Classes in painting

The painting classes will be held in Theresa’s studio in the rural area in the heart of France, named 'le Berry'. The studio is situated on a small domain, 'Domaine des Bertais'. A forest, a meadow and a small river are part of the domain. The tranquillity, the beautiful old trees and the surprising views are most inspiring. All kinds of materials may be used, as the interest and/or preference of the participants of the day require. The maximum number of participants for the classes is 5.

Private workshop

If you wish to give all your attention to your painting, without the risk of being distracted, if you want to pick up oil painting, if you are an experienced painter but have the impression to be 'stuck', or if you just want to paint quietly, at your own pace, far away from worldly, stressing noises in a beautiful spot, then the private workshop is made for you!!

Theresa's studio is yours for a whole week. The program will be determined during the first day's meeting and the week will follow its course around your wishes and needs. There will be plenty of time to investigate the approach and techniques. Time for mistakes and new beginnings, with in the background the fields and forest and the warm welcome in 'le moulin de palbas' at the end of your working day.

Lodging

You may wish to stay in a holiday gîte (Dutch owners, English speaking), at a twenty minutes walk from the studio. This small annex to a former 13th century monastery has been completely restored, is equipped with all comforts and conveniences and is peacefully situated amidst an oakwood, a pond and a meadow. At a 15 minute walk from Domaine des Bertais is the estate Les Concrets (7 ha) with a beautiful, rustic gite, nicely located in a shady garden with pool. The surrounding meadows and forest are perfect for walks. The gite is composed of a spacious living with open kitchen, a bathroom and two bedrooms on the first floor. Afra and Dirk will welcome you with open arms and although not always, evening meals can be arranged for occasionally. Classes 2008

Duration: Arrival and departure on Saturdays.

Lessons: 5 days, you will meet with theresa some time on the Sunday to discuss plans and expectations, the course will start on Monday up to and including Friday, one session each morning in the studio and/or outdoors. You will have the afternoons to yourself, either to continue painting or to enjoy the surrounding beauty...

Prices 2008

In principle, you will be expected to bring your own brushes and paint; feel free to consult Theresa though, as individual solutions may be found. Stretched linen will be for sale in the studio, and easels, turpentine, spirit medium, etc. will be largely available. Be sure to bring Wellingtons and old clothes!

To make your reservation (after entering your name by telephone) please remit half (being Euro 300) of the price and you will be certain of participation. The remaining Euro 350 should be payed into theresa's account one week before the start of the class for which you have registered.
